A little history about our candle

This candle is named after Aïssa Doumara. Doumara is a Cameroonian activist. Forced into marriage at the age of 15, she held out and continued her studies. The discrimination she experienced pushed her to become a dedicated activist. After graduating from high school, she created an association to help women and girls victims of violence in the Far North region of Cameroon. In 2019, she received the first Simone-Veil prize for gender equality. Since 1998, she has led " l'Association de lutte contre les violences faites aux femmes (ALVF)".
