A little history about our candle
This candle is named after Miriam Makeba. Makeba (1932-2008), affectionately known as Mama Africa, was a South African singer who advocated pan-Africanism. During her lifetime, she fought against segregation in South Africa in particular and against colonial invasion in Africa in general. Her music was the voice of Pan-Africanism and she often put political subjects in it. Through her music, she denounced the apartheid regime and the miserable conditions of the black proletariat. She will be forced into an exile of about thirty years because of her appearance in an anti-apartheid film. But that does not prevent her from continuing the anti-apartheid discourse. Her song PATA PATA was her biggest hit.
