A little history about our candle

This candle is named after Yennega. Yennega is an emblematic figure of Burkina Faso. She is believed to have lived between the 14th and 15th centuries. As the daughter of the King of Gambaga, she was entrusted with the role of war chief by her father. Tired of this duty, she fled on horseback and got lost in the forest. There, she encountered a young man named Rialé. From their union, she bore a son whom they named Ouédraogo, meaning "male horse" in the Moore language. The name Ouédraogo pays tribute to the horse that led Yennega to Rialé. Yennega is a legendary figure in West Africa, representing a warrior, a free woman, and an independent spirit.
